       A  MESSAGE FROM        DR. RICK

In starting a new year we tend to evaluate our previous year’s performance and to set goals for the future. Establishing personal goals is essential in motivating and maintaining general direction. The whole course of human history can be influenced and changed by a single individual setting and achieving goals. It is in a solitary mind and soul of an individual that the battle between good and evil is waged and ultimately won or lost. No matter how large or small the group, success is based on the efforts of individual members. As a Foundation we have been blessed with progress during 2006. Foundation board members, volunteers and financial donors have made a difference in the Foundation and as a result in the lives of others. In the upcoming year we have a renewed passion for our direction. I am convinced that the Lord cares very much about our efforts collectively and individually. How wonderful it is to know that with His help, none of us need wait a single moment to continue improving the world. The Mental Health Resource Foundation is a vehicle by which each of us can make a difference. We appreciate your interest and support.

Dr. Rick  -  Foundation Director

FOUNDATION NEWS

On December 9, the Foundation was featured in an article published by the Deseret News. Written by John Hart, "Help Builds Hope" covers the mission of the Foundation and has quotes from interviews with Ardeth Kapp, Rulon Craven, and Joe Christensen. It was a positive article that informed people of the services and resources that the Foundation offers.

FOUNDATION PROJECTS

The Foundation is working on a project with LDS Family Services in Mexico. We are printing a total of 2,000 Guidebooks for use by local clergy and other interested caregivers. The Guidebooks Helping Individuals Stop Using Pornography and Helping Individuals Cope With Mental Illness have been translated and adapted for Mexico City. Donations from LDS Family Services and Esther Foundation have made this project possible.

We are also in the process of rating our LDS resources. The resources are assigned one, two, or three stars. All the three star resources are listed under each category as a "topic". The remaining resources, along with the three-star resources, are  listed  under  the "source" section.  This   new  system allows  the user to find the most

helpful resources quickly and makes the website more user-friendly. Three stars is an "excellent" resource; Two-stars is "great" and one star is "good". We would like readers to review our work under the pornography, addictions, anxiety and stress, and abuse topic categories of "LDS" and send us feedback.
